- Alone -
In a meadow
a silk laden girl
with the fragrance
of spring
once sat,
a young woman,
she screens the ocean
waiting for white sails
beyond the horizon.

Three drinks past perfection,
Coral lanterns swayed in the sky.
Eight minutes and twenty seconds past connection,
Chartreuse lights signaled consent.
Five sirens past acceptance,
Amber flares escorted the surviving soul.
Nine years past remembrance,
Metal bars echo absolution.

Antaeus the Weed
Antaeus The Weed
Stephen Cooper
Tainted water infected the fertile soil,
which spawned a gigantic toxic weed; Antaeus.
He towered over the defiant red heads and green blades,
who now decay upon the dried-out floor.
His strength increased with every drink
he stole from the infected soil he called his mother.
The ground trembled, but he did not move;
convinced he was invincible to harm.
A dark shadow lay upon him as
fear clouded his once confident thoughts.
With a breath of wind he was uplifted;
suspended briefly above the world, then dropped.
As he fell, he saw his victor and
cursed the Hercules lawn-mower.

The Beach
The Beach - by cooper
Thaddeus lies on the beach. He watches his son, Matthew, build intricate sand castles. The sand tickles his toes as the crashing waves and young laughter create a harmonious symphony. He wonders what it'd be like not to hear his child laugh, tell him how proud he is, feel the sand tickle his toes, be able to walk on the beach or walk at all for that matter, but worst yet, not been able to have Matthew. He calls Matthew over and tells him how proud his daddy is and gives him an embracing hug. But it is drawn short by a tickle torture and chase around their castle.
On a cottage facing the water, Mr. Palmer stares entranced at a man and son on the beach. He watches them kick up the sand around a freshly made sand castle. A figure gradually blocks this calming view. He looks up with squinting eyes to make out his plump nurse. He reads her chapped lips, "You have a visitor, Mr. Palmer." He nods with response, so she wheels him down the hall. As he feels the cold condit

A Leaf's Fandango
A Leaf's Fandango - by cooper
For as long as I can remember
the sun has glowed
like new-found love.
Today the winds
are indifferent,
the sky callous and grey.
Friends spiral downward.
The cold tears my essence
as the rain severs my grip.
Reaching to the grey above
I find no resolution,
but weave a graceful
Darkness is my bitter partner
as we glide over a
laden ground of death.
The sweet melody of rain
paces the beating
of my rampant thoughts.
On the last beat
I look to a sky
once callous and grey,
only to see
the sun resplendent
like new-found love.

Good day

Good day.

For anyone left still wandering around and even remotely remembers me... I've somewhat returned in some form - from what i'd like to describe as a trip to another dimension. Several factors have kept me away from so many a thing...  one of which I am still battling (my health) with some questions and uncertainty at this time.

I just wanted to stop in and say hi.. wish everyone a Happy New Year full of challenges and triumphs....

Take care

Your friend,

In the short time cooper has been with Deviant Art he's racked up over 850 deviation comments, is almost passing the 100 barrier on deviant comments and he's just shy of 100 deviations. This guy has impressed us so much; not only is he cool and level-headed, but he's even building quite a reputation for his poetry and is improving in his graphics. Keep it up cooper, you da man!

I'm finally working my way back on to DA and just wanted to stop in and say hello. I hope you were able to deal with the "Several Factors" issues you were dealing with.
